Alamo Aerospace, LP has been granted FAA STC approval to install a Lycoming IO-540-D4B5 engine in the Cessna 182S and 182T aircraft. This engine is certified to produce 260 HP at 2700 RPM which provides 30 additional horsepower over the standard 230 HP engine. The 13% increase in available power provides a substantial increase in takeoff, climb and cruise performance.
The new engine is dimensionally the same as the engine it replaces, therefore, no airframe modifications are required (It is truly “Plug and Play”). In addition, the new engine weight is virtually identical to the weight of the existing engine so there is little or no reduction in useful load. Even the existing three-blade McCauley propeller can be retained with the new engine to further reduce the cost of the conversion.
Benefits:
Takeoff Distance Reduced by 10% (150 feet)
Rate-of-Climb Increased by 20% (200 ft/min)
5-7 KT Increase in Cruise Speed
Little or No Reduction in Useful Load
No Airframe Modifications
260 HP Upgrade Includes:
Factory Rebuilt or Factory New Lycoming IO-540-D4B5 Engine (Exchange)
Existing Three-Blade McCauley Propeller Blade Angles reset (or Factory New McCauley Propeller is Available)
Existing Propeller Governor is converted to 2700 RPM Governor (or Factory New Governor is Available)
New Tachometer
Fuel Flow/MAP Indicator Remarked
